Questions to ask the doctor during your Six Month Smiles consultation:

1. After you take impressions of my teeth how long will it take to get my Six Month Smiles Patient Tray Kit back from the Six Month Smiles lab?

2. After my teeth are straight are there any other cosmetic treatments that you would recommend for me such as whitening, bonding, or veneers?

Each case is different but most cases are completed without needing whitening, bonding, or veneers.


3. Based on your initial assessment, about how many months do you expect that I will wear Six Month Smiles braces? (average is six months)

4-9 months is the normal time frame and we have currently seen patients getting them off in 4-6 months, but the most important factor is patient satisfaction, if you are happy with the new alignment and your beautiful new smile, then we are happy.


4. What type of retention do you recommend after treatment?

Dr. Kerby prefers bonded lingual retainers that do not come out of the mouth but are more difficult to clean around and also clear retainers at night.


5. I understand that Six Month Smiles will not correct a severe overbite or underbite. Do either of these factors exclude me as a candidate?

No, it does not exclude you and often times we cannot correct the bite but can significantly improve it.


6. Can you explain to me the differences between Six Month Smiles and traditional or comprehensive orthodontics? Which option is best for my situation?

6 Month Smiles is short term tooth-colored braces (wires and brackets), that are focused on the cosmetics of the smile and improvement of anterior tooth alignment, therefore it does not take as long to straighten the front teeth many times, when you are not focusing on the bite and changes needed to create the perfect posterior tooth alignment.


7. Do you have any "Before & After" photos that you can show me or photos of patients wearing Six Month Smiles braces?

Yes we have many before and after photos we would love to share with you.


8. What types of payment options or payment plans do you offer?

We have monthly payment plans that our office manager can tailor specific to your own account.


9. Can you check to see if my insurance plan will cover a portion of the cost?

Yes we will check your insurance for you as well.


10. How soon can I come in for a records appointment?

Approximately 2 weeks.
