Dental Care for the Entire Family

Dr. Shawn M. Kerby and his caring staff are here to
serve you, your family, and all of your dental needs.
Our goal is to help you achieve a healthy and beautiful
smile to last a lifetime.
Our dental office has been at the same location for
almost 30 years providing excellent care and beautiful
smiles. In February of 2007 we changed our name to Kerby
Family Dental, when Dr. Shawn M. Kerby took over for Dr.
Grover Hahn upon his retirement. Dr. Kerby graduated
from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry in 2004
and practiced as an associate dentist with Donald
Copley, DDS for 2.5 years before moving to West Des
Moines. Dr. Kerby was also appointed adjunct faculty in
2005, for the University of Iowa, teaching the dental
students at Broadlawns Hospital and continues to do so
on Friday afternoons. The staff at Broadlawns Hospital
were also in need of a dentist proficient in surgery to
aid in removing difficult and impacted teeth in 2008 and
Dr. Kerby took a position there as well to help, as
needed.
Our office and highly trained staff wish to provide you
with dental education, prevention and treatment of
dental disease, cosmetic enhancements to improve your
smile, and implant dentistry to replace missing teeth or
retain dentures. At Kerby Family Dental, we are here to
give you the knowledge you need to achieve and maintain
a healthy smile no matter what your age or dental
history!
Dr. Shawn M. Kerby is dedicated to providing excellent
dental care for our entire family of patients. We have
dedicated countless hours in continuing education
courses to expand our knowledge of dentistry and provide
you with the most up to date dentistry available. We
have also updated the office by adding computer systems,
video displays that have television, intraoral cameras,
and new delivery units. We will soon have digital x-ray
units drastically reducing the amount of exposure the
patient receives during routine dental appointments.
Especially for You
Your comfort is our ultimate goal! We individualize your
care to help create a visit that is pleasant and
relaxing. Dental visits have historically been
associated with discomfort and pain. We wish to change
those misconceptions! We will always use topical
anesthetic to make the injection of local anesthetic
virtually undetectable. We have special neck and back
pillows available to anyone needing extra support in
those areas. Nitrous oxide is available as well and for
the highly anxious patient we often prescribe
anti-anxiety medications that will drastically improve
your perception of the dental visit. Oftentimes we have
found that after the first couple of visits there is no
need for these aids but if you continue to have anxiety
they are always available.
